Injection can Reduce Tissue Damage After Heart Attack, Stroke
British scientists have come up with an injection which could reduce the devastating effects of heart attack and stroke and save thousands of victims. This new antibody cuts the devastating inflammatory tissue damage to the heart and brain after an attack by almost 60%.
Interrupted blood flow to the heart and brain leads to heart attack and stroke respectively. But the major damage occurs later when the body's defenses attack the oxygen-starved cells generally 9-12 hours after the attack. This new injection when administered after an attack can stop the body from attacking the cells.

Prof Wilhelm Schwaeble, of Leicester University said, "This is potentially the biggest breakthrough in the treatment of heart attacks and strokes ever."
