A program will be launched for suitably recognizing/ honoring families of those who donate organs after their death.
An inter-ministerial committee will soon be set up by the health ministry to resolve issues of coordination in tasks related to organ transplant. This committee will also obtain support from related organizations. The health ministry also decided to make the National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization a registered society to give it more autonomy. These decisions were taken during a meeting held by the health secretary on how to improve the mechanism for organ donation in the country.
A ministry statement said, "It was also decided to strengthen the infrastructure at regional and state levels. A program will be launched for suitably recognizing/ honoring families of those who donate organs after their death. Also, comprehensive training would be provided to staff handling organ transplant in various hospitals."
