Islamic Medical Ethics workshop has opposed use of Irreversible contraceptives, surrogate motherhood and reproductive cloning but welcomes organ transplants from live
During a workshop on Islamic Medical Ethics new rules and flexibility to certain existing rules were done. The workshop was attended by national and international physicians who wanted the Islamic Medical Ethics little comfortable and flexible. Dr. Malika Haque, Clinical Professor Pediatrics, Ohio State University and Dr. Mohammad Amin, Shifa College of Medicine had recommended several new ethical laws.
They said chronic patients who are terminally ill can be allowed to hear tapes and Quaran Recitation and they can also be allowed to have alcohol and gelatin free medicines, which could help them, overcome their pain due to their illness. The board opposed irreversible contraceptive use, organ transplantation from dead but allowed organ transplantation from live patients, surrogating babies and reproductive cloning but allowed the use of genetic engineering for treatment of cancer and other chronic diseases.Source: ANI.
