IStethoscope on IPhone Proves a Runaway Hit

The iStethoscope, as it is now being called has been updated to record heart sounds which can be emailed to professionals around the world.

Mr. Peter Bentley, a researcher, initially developed this as a fun toy application for the iPhone. That it would replace the doctor’s main diagnosis instrument, the 200-year old stethoscope, and become such a sensation among the medical fraternity and other users, was only evident when it became an all time hit being download a few million times.

The iStethoscope, as it is now being called has been updated to record heart sounds which can be emailed to professionals around the world for their expert opinions. It was found to be better than other applications like digital stethoscopes and a couple of thousand times or more, cheaper while the audio was clearly far superior.

It costs only 59 pence to download and does a far superior job than hugely expensive equipment. He is now working on an electrocardiogram reader and other applications.
