After its baby lotion was found to contain excessive levels of bacteria, Johnson & Johnson announced that it will be recalling more than 2,000 tubes of its Aveeno Baby Calming Comfort Lotion. The recall comes following a product sample test by the Food and Drug Administration found excessive levels of coagulase-negative Staphylococci bacteria in a single lot.
The company said that the lot was distributed in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee and Texas.
Stating that the recall was a voluntary step and was not because of any adverse effects, the company released a statement saying “Johnson & Johnson Consumer Companies Inc. has voluntarily initiated this recall out of an abundance of caution. This action is not being undertaken on the basis of adverse events and the potential for adverse health effects is remote.”
