A senior journalist charged with cheating the organisation he earlier worked for has been arrested here, police said Saturday.

The Special Cell of Delhi Police arrested Alok Tomar, a former editor of Senior India magazine, a fortnightly, late Friday night.

Tomar was arrested after he flew into the capital Friday night. He will be produced before the court, said Deputy Commissioner of Police Alok Kumar.

Kumar said Senior India Pvt Ltd, publishers of the magazine, had registered a case against him for transferring the company's money to his account.

Without giving further details, the officer said the amount was "in lakhs of rupees".

Asked why the anti-terrorism wing of Delhi Police had made the arrest, Kumar simply said: "The case was transferred to us recently and we have arrested him."

In February, Tomar was arrested for reprinting the controversial Danish cartoons of Prophet Mohammad.
