A seriously-ill Edinburgh boy suffering from an aggressive childhood cancer neuroblastoma need at least quarter million pounds for his treatment, his family has learnt.

Four-year-old Jamie Inglis needs a radical treatment that is available in the United States. This treatment has to be given within three months of the end of chemotherapy. Jamie has already undergone chemotherapy after he was operated upon for the cancer.

"Hopefully in a few years' time this treatment will be far more readily available and much cheaper for children like Jamie suffering from neuroblastoma. But that's obviously too late for him," said Jamie's father John. The latter was due to be posted to Afghanistan when the diagnosis of his son's condition was made.
