Students are being told to wash hands immediately after coughing, traveling outdoors, before and after meals at the campaign organized by UNICEF.

Kerala Launches a Month-Long Campaign to Promote Hand Washing Across the State
Many students participated at the State-level inauguration of the Global Hand washing Day, organized by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the Rotary International at Government Girls HSS, Peroorkada, Thiruvananthapuram.
A month-long campaign on Hand Washing has been launched in schools across the State by the UNICEF, in association with Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA).

Inaugurating the campaign, State Project Director of SSA E.P. Mohandas said “Proper washing of hands could prevent diseases. Students are being told to wash hands immediately after coughing, traveling outdoors, before and after meals.”

“Heads of schools have been asked to carry out a campaign to inculcate the habit of hand washing to prevent bacterial diseases”, he added. Rotary International and Kerala Child Rights Observatory are also partners in the campaign.
