The project has been conceived in coordination with NSS technical cell and youth club. Blood donation campaigns will be conducted at schools, colleges and youth clubs.
An online blood bank, Jeevadhayini was launched by the Kerala State Youth Welfare Board. It has a comprehensive directory of donors on its website jeevadhayini.in, requests for blood can be posted in the website. // The online blood bank at Government Women's College in Thiruvanathapuram was inaugurated by the Home minister Ramesh Chennithala on August 19. Minister said blood donation would help youngsters maintain a healthy body and requested every youth to volunteer for blood donation. Online directory containing the details of 2 lakh donors who have registered for donating blood on January 12, 2016, National Youth Day will be released by the youth welfare board.
"Donors can register themselves at the website or through mobile applications for further donations. We welcome blood donation from both boys and girls," vice-chairman of Kerala State Youth Welfare Board, said P S Prasanth. By entering the district name, PIN code or blood group at the website, one will receive details of the registered donors of the required blood group from the online directory.
Minister P K Jayalekshmi presided over the function. District panchayat president Ansajitha Russel, P S Prasanth and deputy collector Anu S Nair and also spoke at the inaugural.
