Kick Gestures to Soon Control Phones When Hands are Busy At Other Things

A new study from an Indian origin scientist has suggested that feet gestures at times can be best used to control phones and computers.

Sriram Subramanian and colleagues at the University of Bristol, UK and the University of Manitoba, Canada revealed that there would be a number of situations where the kick gestures can control the flow of input in the best manner.

Researchers have developed robots that can be controlled by the user's thoughts and will be provide help for disabled people in future.

"For example, a mother holding a baby or a shopper carrying bags may not be able to answer their call or skip to the next song on their phone without putting down the baby or the shopping bags," New Scientist quoted him as saying.

Researchers came to the conclusion after they connected a Kinect sensor to a tablet computer held by a user, and found that it tracked his foot motion properly and navigated a virtual football in the desired direction.

These results were presented at the Mobile HCI conference in Stockholm, Sweden last week.
