Kids Must Not Undergo Obesity Surgeries
Some of the leading doctors in the world have said that diet and exercise should remain the main focus of losing weight and weight-loss surgeries should be avoided at all costs unless in extreme emergencies.
In a report published in the journal The Lancet, doctors from the United States and Britain have claimed that in majority of the cases, poor lifestyle is the cause for obesity rather than hormones and a bariatric surgery should be conducted only when strict dieting and exercise fails to reduce the weight.

Experts say said that no major studies looking to the effect of anaesthetic drugs in overweight children have been conducted and chances of something going wrong are very high. Dr Ahmed Ahmed, who is the Obesity surgeon at Charing Cross hospital in London said that such surgeries change the way a person eats food.

“Weight loss surgery changes the way you eat food. You will never be able to eat food in the same way. And teenagers find that a difficult concept to grasp. Also they themselves are going through so many changes because they are entering their teen years - many are leaving home, going to university and so on”, he added.
