The Kolkata Municipal Corporation has taken stern action against a lab technician for refusing treatment to a malaria patient.

The Kolkata Municipal Corporation has taken stern action against a lab technician for refusing treatment to a malaria patient. The technician has now been dismissed from service.

“After The Indian Express broke the story we conducted an inquiry which proved him guilty. We have ordered to remove Biswas from his duty,” said Mayor Bikash Ranjan Bhattacharya. “We request the victim to come to the KMC clinic and avail the treatment as soon as possible."

The patient in question is one Ashok Bhattacharya, who is suffering from malignant malaria. He lost his vision in one eye because of the delay in getting proper treatment after technician Debashis Biswas refused to provide him the needed medications.

Ashok was apparently refused treatment as he had visited a private doctor before turning up at a KMC clinic.
