Aussie pop princess Kylie Minogue has revealed that doctors had given her the all clear after initially misdiagnosing her for breast cancer.
Aussie pop princess Kylie Minogue has revealed that doctors had initially misdiagnosed her breast cancer and had given her the all clear.
Minogue had never publicly revealed the misdiagnosis, and it was only after listening to US talk show host Ellen DeGeneres and US presidential hopeful Senator Hillary Clinton discussing the importance of early detection of cancer, that she was inspired to come out with it.DeGeneres, who was unaware of the misdiagnosis, started the interview by asking Minogue about her battle with breast cancer two years ago.
The Australian singer immediately grabbed the chance to reveal what had happened to her.
"Listen, this is an opportunity for me to say something that I have not said before," News.com.au quoted Minogue as saying.
"I was misdiagnosed initially. So, my message to all of you and everyone at home is - because someone is in a white coat and using big medical instruments (it) doesn't necessarily mean they are right," she added.
Minogue did not reveal exactly when the misdiagnosis occurred or how long it was before she went for a second check up, nor did she reveal if the misdiagnosis happened in Australia or Britain.

"I was watching the senator (Hillary Clinton) before and I back her up 100 per cent that it's in the diagnosis and the early treatment," Minogue said.

Not feeling satisfied with the diagnosis, Minogue said that she had a second check and it was then that it was discovered she had breast cancer.
"If you have any doubt, go back again," Minogue told the audience.
The singer warned women to seek a second opinion if they're not satisfied with their doctor's initial diagnosis.
"I had no intention of saying that today. But with what you were talking about before, I didn't realise it was a subject so close to your heart as well," she added.
