English singer songwriter Lily Allen is seeking treatment for her depression at a top private clinic.

The 22-year-old Smile singer went into depression after having gone through a miscarriage and splitting from lover Ed Simons of the Chemical Brothers, whom she had thought was “the one” for her.

After finding herself unable to cope with life she decided to seek professional help, and is now being treated at a residential clinic, where she is allowed out to see pals and to film her BBC3 chat show, Lily Allen and Friends.

“The last couple of months have been really hard for Lily. She was so happy to be pregnant and was willing to give up her showbiz life to settle down and have a family,” the Sun quoted a pal as saying.

“Her miscarriage was a huge blow and she hasn’t really recovered. She has tried to put on a brave face but she found she needed to get some professional help,” her pal added.

Lily and 37-year-old Simons had tried making up by going on a 3,000 pounds-a-night holiday to the Maldives, however it did not work out.

“She really believed she and Ed were perfect together so she was devastated when they broke up,” the pal said.

“But she is responding well to treatment and is pleased that she is being allowed out to film her TV show and to keep in touch with the friends supporting her,” the pal added.

Lily left the clinic on Monday night to spend a cheering evening with pals at the Groucho club in London’s Soho.
