A recent research findings indicates that treatments for both migraine and major depression may benefit patients with both disorders. A study was conducted on people with migraine or severe headaches aged between 25 and 55. When their psychiatric comorbidity was assessed, researchers found that the risk of migraine in individuals with pre-existing major depression was three times higher than in individuals with no history of major depression.// Moreover the risk of major depression in persons with pre-existing migraine was more than fivefold higher than in people with no history of headaches. However there were no relation between major depression and other types of severe headaches.
