Chronic pain sufferers in Atlantic Canada has to wait for more than a year for treatment in pain clinics due to inadequate hospital resources and physicians
Patients in Atlantic Canada suffering from chronic pain have to wait for more than 18 months for their treatment in pain clinics. The survey was conducted by Action Atlantic funded by Pfizer pharmaceuticals.
The survey found that more than 460 000 chronic pain sufferers are waiting for their treatment in pain clinics the long wait was due to inadequate doctors and hospital staffs in hospitals. But still lots of emergency patients are referred to these hospitals and these patients have to wait for their treatments.Angus MacIsaac, Health Minister said that he his aware of the problem and has added an additional funding of $300 000 to this years budget which will help in upgrading the health facilities and recruit more physicians in the hospitals and the situation will be normal within the end of this year.
