Mumbai Police has taken into custody a young nurse accused of stabbing to death, her friend’s husband.
The Vasai police arrested Chanda Jadhav (21) for the murder of her colleague Jyotsna Narvekar’s, husband. The two were employed as nurses at the Sadanand Nursing Home at Vasai (W). They were very close friends and used to go out every weekend. Jyotsna's husband, Rupesh (29), was highly displeased with this and frequently took objection to their outings together.
Sunday last, Chanda telephoned Rupesh and asked to speak to him about Jyotsna. She then stabbed him twice with a sharp knife. Rupesh later died at the Bhagwati hospital where he was admitted with severe injuries. Still, the police managed to take his statement.
Rupesh’s statement, which accuses Chanda of the crime, will now be treated as his dying declaration. Rupesh, Jyotsna (23) and their son lived at Nirmal area in Vasai (W). Rupesh worked in a private factory.
"For the past five years, Chanda and Jyotsna have been working as nurses in the Sadanand nursing home. Chanda is unmarried and lives at Wagholi village in Vasai,” divulged senior inspector Anand Koli.
"The two women would spend time together at work. On every weekly off, they used to head for outings. This irritated Rupesh who probably got no time to spend with his wife. He would often inquire where the two women went on their weekly offs.
"We have taken Chanda into custody and will interrogate her. She will be produced before a Thane court on Friday," the officer added.
