For two happily-ever-after couples in Lucknow, the fact that both the women in these pairs are physically challenged, has never spoiled the marital bliss.

Mridu and Ram Goel’s love story bears a bit of Cinderella , in it. Ram was a physiotherapist who helped out Mridu with her shoe, for a limping leg. "She visited me frequently for getting her shoe made. After a few occasions, I proposed to her and we decided to get married”, he recalls with a smile. While conceding the initial bit of family opposition, he adds, "Now, we are planning how to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary in March next year".Says Mridu: "We had doubts of having children but then Ram supported me morally and assured that if we cannot have our children, we would adopt." Soon their first child Kabir , was born. Mridu remembers with gratitude how Ram molded the minds of her children in such a way that they never felt sore about her disability.
"Its only recently that my daughter has started complaining that I do not take her for window shopping... But she never cribs," Mridu says.
Ram Goel however feels that disability has never been an issue between the two. "She is so strong willed. Like a perfect wife she makes the breakfast, lunch, dinner, chooses clothes for me and so on. We have shared some lovely moments like the birth of our children, and what not. And just because she cannot walk like you and me, is she abnormal? No, in fact, she teaches me many things in a number of ways," Ram Goel says.
Another such a moving love story is that of Priya and Neeraj Chaturvedi . "I fell in love with her when I heard her voice on the telephone. It was on our third meeting that we decided that we cannot live without each other," says Neeraj, a senior officer in a government bank.
Priya is completely crippled. She cannot walk at all and is confined to a wheelchair. In addition to this, she suffers from diabetes, high blood pressure and hypothyroidism. Yet this is what Neeraj has to say about his wife who is even eight years elder to him: "She is the love of my life. She is a special human being because I have seen her fighting all odds, under which a normal man would falter." Was there any support from her in-laws? Says Priya: "They were all opposed to our marriage. Some of our relatives do not visit us even now. But then since we are living away from them, these things do not matter much."
