Madhya Pradesh may raise the retirement age of medical specialists and provide special allowance to doctors posted in interior areas in order to provide due healthcare to people.
"Providing better health and medical services to people is a priority of the state government and for this the government will provide basic facilities to doctors posted in rural areas. If needed, special allowance will also be provided to them," Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said.Speaking at a seminar on 'Tuberculosis and lung diseases' here, he said the government would consider raising the retirement age of specialists due to their shortage and lack of health care facilities in rural areas.
Chouhan said his government was emphasising on running full-fledged district hospitals at all district towns, community health centres in blocks and in posting doctors in interior areas.
