According to the department, 94% of the state's total order has been received, while the rest will be delivered by November 24. Over 1.7 million vaccines will be stocked that includes privately purchased flu vaccine.The federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention revealed that this flu season over 115 million doses would be made available across the country. According to the state officials, infants, elderly people, pregnant women and people with chronic medical problems specifically need to be vaccinated.
'It's important to note that flu season in New England doesn't usually begin until December and doesn't usually peak until February,' state Public Health Commissioner Paul J. Cote Jr. said in a statement. 'Getting vaccinated in November, December, or even later will provide people with a significant amount of protection.'
