Malaria strikes Munger tribals

People of Bihar were facing the worst forms of nightmare over the past 3 weeks , now the reason isn't the political scenario but the threat of malaria .

Malaria , not a new disease to this tropical country , invaded the tribal areas of Munger, 200 km (125 miles) southeast of the state capital, Patna.

Thirty-eight people have died of cerebral malaria in this eastern Indian state of Bihar over the past 3 weeks,said the state's health minister Mr.Shakuni Choudhary.

Mr. Choudry said that all the necessary steps are being taken to bring down the calamity.They have sent two malaria experts to Munger,who would be taking blood samples and sending them to the National Institute of Virology.

State health department has sent doctors and the necessary medications to Munger to bring down the epidemic.

Malaria is the disease spread by mosquitos and usually presents with fever and rigors.the worst form of malaria is cerebral malaria,which if not treated can lead on to convulsions coma and death within 24 hours.
