A new vaccine called the TAT vaccine has been developed in Italy as the latest and most exciting HIV vaccine to date. And more importantly it has had a 71% success rate when tested on monkeys. This vaccine is now ready for human testing and this may be the brightest hope for mankind against the destructive HIV.

Dr.Barbara Ensoli, Head of the Department of Virology at Italy’s National Health Institute and Dr.Robert Gallo, one of the fathers of AIDS research have developed this vaccine which promises to be a strong salvo against the human immunodeficiency virus.

This project has consumed five years of dedicated work and employs an entirely new approach in tackling the virus. The idea is to block the virus from growing inside the body rather than trying to bolster the immune system against the virus as many vaccines try to do.

TAT protein is an important protein in the virus, which is a key building block of the dreaded virus. By blocking the TAT protein the scientists hope to stop the growth of the virus inside the human body. So they say this vaccine will be effective even in old cases of HIV. All eyes are now on the results of human testing of this vaccine to see how effective this could be.

The ability of the virus to mutate and survive has made it smart and strong to survive all the initiatives man has taken to eliminate it. The TAT vaccine is the latest hope for man against the virus! Lets hope this works!!
