A 43-year-old man faces a police charge for spiking his friend’s drink with cannabis while they met at the Pineacres Restaurant and Bar, in Kaiapoi.

A 43-year-old man faces a police charge for spiking his friend’s drink with cannabis while they met at the Pineacres Restaurant and Bar, in Kaiapoi. A drinking mate who allegedly mixed his mate’s drink with manufactured cannabis that made the man really sick. He had to be treated at a hospital for four days.
The 53-year-old victim was drinking with friends when he collapsed and had to be rushed to Christchurch Hospital. When the drink was tested, researchers found that it contained manufactured cannabinoid AB-Pinaca. According to a constable’s account given to him by the suspect- he thought he was adding "speed" (amphetamine) in the beverage and did not know it was a manufactured pill.
