A man diagnosed with motor neurone disease has decided to record his voice so that his son can hear it even if he loses the ability to speak.

"At the moment, if my voice goes in the next six months he might not recognize me," said Mr Brewer, referring to his 13-month son Stan. "But, in five years time, if I have the voice banked he can hear what I sounded like or an idea of what I sounded like. So it's a memory."
Mr Brewer is recording his speech patterns in a speech synthesis program called ModelTalker, which he discovered online. He is happy that even if his voice gives way, his son will still hear him speak in future.
