Many Children Unbuckle and Climb Out of Car Seats
A recent survey conducted among parents has found that children often free themselves from car safety seats when the car is in motion, which can be dangerous.
As children are unable to appreciate the safety aspect of buckling up, they may try to free themselves at the slightest opportunity.

The survey revealed that the safety seats used depended upon the age and weight of the child and were convertible seats, booster seats, or five-point harness seats.

Since unbuckling a properly buckled safety seat requires a bit of effort even for an adult, the study does bring up questions about whether the seat was buckled up properly in the first place which made it easy for children to loosen up.

Loosely attaching the harness straps or placing straps in wrong harness slots makes it easy for the child to climb out.

It is imperative that a certified child passenger safety technician (CPST) certify the installation of the child car seat and guide parents about safer ways to strap up children in car safety seats.
