The new clinical model, Max Institute of Cancer Care-Daycare is a unique proposition that offers a Zen-like architecture and environment to the cancer patients. The facility will offer personalised care in an "un-hospital" like environment. The services at this centre are designed to enhance patient experience, while undergoing therapy for cancer. Also, with new therapies being developed it is quite important that these be delivered in a clinical environment, which is fully controlled and completely safe. The facility will have several practices like – Survivorship programme, Max Saathi volunteering, etc. along with a library to enhance the well-being and recovery of the patients. Commenting on the launch, Rajit Mehta, MD and CEO, Max Healthcare said, “Cancer is a dreaded disease and there is a dire need for providing speciality care in the country. Max Healthcare’s vision is to provide a fully developed, dedicated cancer facility to cancer patients. The first step towards realizing our dream of an integrated cancer facility for patients is the launch of the cancer day care centre.
The standalone chemotherapy centre will be spear headed by renowned Dr. Pramod Kumar Julka along with a 22 member team. The set- up has been created keeping in mind the changing models of hospitals and the growing global trend of setting-up standalone facilities that do not require a traditional hospital-like set-up. We plan to launch similar centres in the coming years.” Dr.Harit Chaturvedi, Chairman - Max Institute of Oncology, Max Super Speciality Hospital, Saket, commented, “Cancer is a growing disease burden in India and worldwide. Presently, there are more than a million cancer cases in India and an estimated 1.45 million new cancer cases are expected to appear in 2016 alone. For these patients who are battling cancer, determination and the will to fight is half the battle won. However, in the past 27 years of my experience, I have seen thousands of patients and their families get impacted by the hospital environment itself.
The long hours spent doing rounds of the hospital and the side-effects of chemotherapy can take a huge toll on any cancer patient. Max Cancer Centre’s environment has been especially customized to dis-associate patients from a hospital-like environment and instead provide them with an ambience that is peaceful and soothing. "I am confident that patient recovery will immensely benefit from the centre’s exclusivity and its aesthetic setup." Rohit Kapoor, Senior Director and Chief Growth Officer, Max Healthcare commented, “Max Institute of Cancer Care- Daycare is a pioneering effort to offer cancer therapy in an ‘’unhospital’’ like controlled environment. This is our first step in establishing dedicated cancer facilities in NCR. We plan to replicate this model of standalone daycare cancer centres in other parts of NCR in the coming years.’’
Max Cancer Centre will start functioning from June 8th with OPD’s. The centre will commence full-fledged operations from June 13th when in-patient day-care services will start.
