Medical Counseling in AP Set to Start from Today

A delay in the release of the approved list of colleges by the Medical Council of India (MCI) had caused confusion as to when counseling would begin for MBBS and BDS courses

A delay in the release of the approved list of colleges by the Medical Council of India (MCI) had caused confusion as to when counseling would begin for MBBS and BDS courses in Andhra Pradesh. However the hurdle has now been crossed and counseling is set to start on Monday and end on July 26.

"Counselling would be completed by the end of the month and classes would commence in the first week of August as per schedule," Venugopala Rao, the Registrar, NTR Health University said.

He added that intake was not raised in some government colleges, while there was a marginal increase in the intake of private colleges. Mr Rao said that the decision of the MCI was final. This approval was based on infrastructure and allied facilities offered by various medical institutions.

Venugopala Rao also said that the MCI had derecognized eight colleges in the country due to lack of proper facilities.
