District magistrate has directed IAS officer to probe the incident and submit a report at the earliest. Staff in charge of supply of oxygen at the ICU was suspended.
Four patients put on the ventilator in the ICU of the Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital in Bihar died due to lack of oxygen supply. Santosh Kumar Mishra DMCH superintendent said four patients - Bhola Sah (72), Rani Devi (35), Champa Devi (65) and Shabnam Khatun (40), perished between six and nine am when there was no oxygen supply after attendant Amlesh Prasad, who is in charge of supply of oxygen at the ICU, left for home before the arrival of his reliever. Two other attendants, put on roster duty, also turned up late, he said.
Taking a serious view of the matter, district magistrate Kumar Ravi has directed IAS officer Abhilasha Sharma to probe the incident and submit a report at the earliest.
