MedTech Innovator is a venture competition designed to identify and support innovative early-stage medical device companies.
The Advanced Medical Technology Association (AdvaMed) and RCT Ventures have announced that the MedTech Innovator competition will take place at AdvaMed 2015: The MedTech Conference from October 5 to 7 in San Diego. MedTech Innovator is a venture competition designed to identify and support innovative early-stage medical device companies. Throughout the year, selected start-up medical device companies are vetted through a series of competitions to win a place among 20 semi-finalists who will be recognized as the Top 20 MedTech Innovators. These Top 20 MedTech Innovators compete to be selected among the four finalists vying for the audience vote during the MedTech Innovator competition finals.
“Hosting the MedTech Innovator competition at AdvaMed 2015 will spotlight the importance of start-ups to the medical technology industry. As the premier medical technology conference in North America, AdvaMed 2015 attracts active health care investors and senior executives from leading medtech companies, and provides an ideal forum for the competition,” said Ashley Wittorf, Executive Director of AdvaMed.
The company has recently surveyed 26 leading medtech manufacturers to find out the 10 most important areas of medtech innovation. The companies polled include BD, Edwards Lifesciences, GE Ventures, Johnson & Johnson, ResMed, UCLA Health, Cardiovascular Systems, Inc. and St. Jude Medical.
