Riverland in south Australia suffers from the second highest rate of intentional injury. This includes cases like suicide and homicide.

Dr Paul Lehmann who is by profession a mental health advocate blames the mental health service or its inadequacy.

The suicide rates in Riverland are higher than that seen in Adelaide. He is calling for more mental health workers and also requesting people to kindly donate money to improve the child and adolescent health services.

He said the level of inadequacy is the same in case of the entire country but the city suffers the most.

This can be due to the thinking of some of the people who are so used to working under bad situation that they don’t complain of any mental stress. This situation is seen in case of people working in the country rather than riverside.

This is on of the reasons to have a very low rate of mental problems that are reported in the country apart from riverside.

The program manager, Ruth McPhail said that the services are good and apart from the regular services others services also incorporating doctors, hospitals and other health workers are provided to support the patients.
