Middle-aged Brits are the Unhealthiest People in the World, Says Study
According to new research conducted by private healthcare specialist Bupa, middle-aged UK residents are the unhealthiest when compared to their counterparts across the globe.
They are more likely to smoke, be overweight and suffer from depression.

The Bupa Health Pulse survey involved more than 12,000 people in 12 countries and found that late middle-age is the toughest in health terms for Brits.

Of the 2,000 UK residents polled, 35 per cent were found to be clinically obese. This is twice the international average.

Only the US, Australia and Saudi Arabia were shown to have bigger obesity problems.

Almost a quarter of Brits quizzed by Bupa, meanwhile, said that they smoked more than ten cigarettes a day, while 27 per cent said that they had suffered from depression.

Recent research by scientists from Columbia University and the Penn State College of Medicine showed that early-morning smoking can increase a person's chances of getting lung cancer.
