Researchers for the study had said that milk was not given its due in the normal diet because of its association with cholesterol levels. However people should not underestimate the benefits of including milk in our everyday diets.

He researchers had taken a survey of764 men and asked them to weigh and record each and every item of their food items, and about 90% of them had maintained a detailed diaries. The men were in the age of 45 to 59 and they were observed for a period of 20 years after the initial study. They all had to undergo comprehensive health check-ups, including ECGs at the beginning of the study and every five years. The researchers had also kept a tab on their hospital records and family doctors’ records.

Blood pressure levels and cholesterol levels of the people with high milk intake and low milk intake remained the same. The risk of heart disease was the least with people who drank most milk. This is truer for stroke, whose incidence risk is inversely related to those people who include highest amount of milk in their diets.
