Miscarriage Test Errors Lead to Hundreds of Abortions
Mistakes during scanning and testing have led to many hundreds of abortions every year, according to a new report. Nearly one embryo a day faces abortion mainly due to errors in interpreting testing procedures.
Doctors often speed through diagnosis of scans and sometimes miss important information. The number of errors on the part of doctors which has led to abortions is estimated at 400 every year.

Researchers are of the opinion that many of the embryos may have been healthy with the possibility of completing a full term.

Generally doctors perform a scan to measure the size of the gestational sac as well as to ascertain the presence of vital signs like the heart beat. In some cases, a second scan, if performed after a few days can help doctors make a confirmed diagnosis. This is better than making life-altering decisions based on a single scan.

Women are advised to take a second opinion before going in for an abortion.
