Video gamers are certainly going to have a completely rejuvenated gaming experience as the next generation of games will probably do away with baffling choice of screens available
A completely rejuvenated gaming experience awaits avid video gamers as the next generation of games will probably do away with baffling choice of screens available and switch to handheld projectors instead. Screens like HD, 3D, touch and more, the handheld projectors will now replace the screen with a wall.
'SideBySide' is one such gaming system exemplifying this technique. Developed by Karl Willis and colleagues at the Disney Research labs in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, this multiplayer gaming system uses handheld projectors to allow the player to play on any nearby surface.
The game employs the use of "pico" projectors, which emit both infrared and visible light.
Each player has to use a prototype device for the game that constitutes a modified projector along with an infrared camera to detect the markers and a button for interactions. On the other hand, Macbook Pro deals with the processing.
This gaming system encompasses games like competitive boxing and cooperative brick destruction.
Before SideBySide, Willis' had developed MotionBeam, which was meant for single-player gaming purpose but he asserts that the new version provides flexibility to people to play together without any constraints.

"This is, as far as we are aware, a world first and something we believe is going to make gaming with a handheld projector very attractive in the future," he added.
