More than 10 percent of newly married couples sleep apart following the birth of their first child
More than 10 percent of newly married couples sleep apart following the birth of their first child with over 30 percent regularly preferring a separate bed in the first year in order to get some much needed rest. The findings are a part of the Baby Show poll in which more than 2,000 couple participated. The researchers looked into the sleeping patterns of new parents and found that just 60 percent of them said that they shared a bed every night after the baby is born.
The poll also highlighted the fact that more and more fathers are taking responsibility of the baby with 60 percent of them saying that they attend the child if it starts to cry in the night while over 33 percent of the couples said that they do it in turns.
However caring for a new born is more stressful for the mothers with nearly a quarter of women admitting that they require sleeping pills in order to sleep in the night.
