The National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO) has revealed that it would be distributing free condoms at the Commonwealth Games. NACO Director-General K. Chandramouli said that they have also proposed installation of condom vending machines at the Games village. “We are doing this to meet the challenge of HIV/AIDS,” he said.
The organization is also looking to get enough manpower to install about 200 such machines at various points across the venue. “We are in talks with the State (Delhi) government and other civic authorities to rope in manpower to put up the condom vending machines,” Mr. Chandramouli said.
In fact the government is also looking at installing machines in rural areas and in PDS shops for easier access.
