The World Health Organization conducted an analysis of the statistics of heart disease and stroke collected from 192 countries which showed a strong connection between national income and the risk of heart disease and stroke.
Stroke happens to be the one disease to watch out for in developing countries as these countries portray more number of deaths and disability due to stroke.

“In general, heart disease is still the number one cause of death worldwide, but there is quite a lot of variation across the globe,” said Anthony S. Kim, MD, MAS, assistant professor of neurology at UCSF who conducted the study with S. Claiborne Johnston, MD, PhD, professor of neurology and associate vice chancellor of research at UCSF.
