New figures released by the European Society of Cardiology suggest that nearly 17 percent of the global population will suffer a stroke

More than 85 percent of the cases can be prevented by making changes to the lifestyle and dietary habits such as eating fresh food, avoiding alcohol and being physically active.
Stating that people should take the risk of stroke more seriously, European Society of Cardiology’s Professor Freek Verheugt said, “All individuals with irregular heart beat should see a doctor, who can diagnose whether this heart rhythm disorder is likely to lead to stroke. If so, blood-thinning medication can reduce the risk of stroke by up to 70 percent.”
