A British pharmaceutical company, CM&D Pharma has come up with a new innovative
chewing gum that could help kidney disease sufferers. Food giant Nestle has
bought this firm for an undisclosed amount which was previously backed by
Inventages Group. This takeover is just a month after Nestle launched its 'Nestle
Health Science Division' which specializes in science based nutritional
treatments. The company aims on developing products for dietary management of widespread
conditions and chronic problems.
Fostrap, another product by the CM&D Pharma helps kidney disease
patients by removing high levels of phosphate collected in their saliva. Its other
products include colon protector- for prevention of colon cancer and a product
for intestinal pain.
President and chief executive of Nestle Health Science, Mr. Luis Cantarell, said,
"This acquisition is an excellent fit with Nestle Health Sciences
strategic goal of being a pioneer in the promising area of science-based
nutrition."
