A German biomedical company has come out with a new app for Apple’s iOS that could be used to process raw ultrasound data directly on Apple devices such as iPhone or the iPad. Developed by the Biomedical Engineering IBMT in St Ingbert, the app makes use of "radio frequent (rf) measurement data acquired with an ultrasound research beamformer like the Fraunhofer IBMT “DiPhAS” system" though other data formats are also compatible, Medgadget reports.
According to the developers, the app can perform a number of functions including the loading of ultrasound rf raw data from a file list, display a scan conversion of the rf data as image output, display the A-Scan data (amplitude scan) of single lines in a graph and visualize the histogram of the scan converted image representation.
This app will be released this week at the MEDICA 2011 conference in Dusseldorf, Germany.
