The Queensland Office of Fair Trading is currently in the process of coming up with a national campaign in Australia that will attempt to teach parents on the right and safe way of using baby slings. According to figures, three babies lost their lives due to baby slings in 2010 while a Queensland coroner ruled that Baby T’s death in 2013 was caused due to baby sling in March 2013. Despite rising number of deaths being caused by the contraption, a recent interview carried out by Bendigo Advertiser found that parents have no hesitation in using a baby sling.
The new campaign will focus on educating parents about using the sling in a safe way. The campaign is expected to be launched later this year, with awareness being spread through YouTube video, brochures, posters and a social media campaign.
