Researchers seem to have zeroed in on the tablet, commonly used to treat depression that can help men suffering premature ejaculation. With the study undertaken with 2,600 men, scientists found that the novel drug was able to effectively extend sexual intercourse by almost 3 times, as compared to the subjects’ previous experiences.
Nearly 20 to 30% of men are faced with such problems, but if this drug passes subsequent tests, then it will be the first of its kind to combat such sexual problems.The team, led by Professor Jon Pryor, of the University of Minnesota, inferred that the drug proved beneficial for men suffering moderate-to-severe premature ejaculation. The trial entailed the couples to attempt at having intercourse anywhere from 6 and more times a month, with the tablets to be taken one to three hours before beginning of intercourse. A logbook was to be maintained with the time of ejaculation recorded.
The team said 'The Drug improved patients’ perception of control over ejaculation, satisfaction with sexual intercourse and overall impression of change in condition. Partners benefited through improved satisfaction with sexual intercourse.'
