Compound MW01-5-188WH has been found to decrease cytokines levels which are responsible for causing inflammation leading to neurodegenerative disorders.
Professor Martin Watterson and team from Northwestern University, Feinberg School of Medicine have found a new compound called MW01-5-188WH which has been found to inhibit the production of the immune cells Cytokines which leads to activation of glia, which is responsible for causing inflammation in brain cells leading to neuron loss leading to degeneration of brain cells in Alzheimer’s disease.
Alzheimer’s disease is characterized by loss in memory due to damage to brain cells which leads to loss of memory, reasoning ability and the capacity to read and understand decreases, they become increasingly forgetting, disoriented in their approach and will develop problems in solving mathematical problems. The researchers found that this compound inhibits cytokines not leading to neurodegenerative diseases in animal models and the researchers are planning to do a clinical trial on human trials which would prove the efficacy of the drug.
