Government’s announces 23,000 junior doctor training posts in the UK by next year

Commenting on the Government's announcement that there will be up to 23,000 junior doctor training posts in the UK next year, the BMA’s Deputy Chair of the Junior Doctor’s Committee [JDC], Dr Tom Dolphin, said

"The BMA is delighted that there has been such a large increase in the indicative number of training posts, and this goes a long way towards addressing the concerns of junior doctors.

"We are still concerned about what happens to those who do not get into the run through grade scheme [RTG] this year, especially as there is still a shortfall in the number of RTG posts.

"Other issues also remain, including the balance of specialties, and we look forward to continuing to address these concerns with the Department of Health."
