New Pain Treatments from Sunburn Study
Understanding the reason behind pain caused by sunburns could pave the way for novel treatments for arthritis and cystitis, scientists revealed.
Experts discovered a molecule in the body which is behind the soreness caused after exposure to the sun.

This discovery brings hope of new treatments in the management of pain due to chronic conditions.

Professor Steve McMahon, of King's College London, said: "This study isn't just about sunburn – we hope that we have identified a potential target which can be utilized to understand more about pain in other inflammatory conditions like arthritis and cystitis. I am excited about where these findings could take us in terms of eventually developing a new type of analgesic for people who suffer from chronic pain."
