New Scans of Military Personnel Reveal Visible Brain Injuries
A new study attempts to understand why some military personnel exposed to blasts in conflict areas like Iraq and Afghanistan portray symptoms of brain injury, even though the standard MRI scans and CT scans appear normal.
Most of them had lost consciousness during the blast and do not have memory of the incident.

Researchers used highly sensitive MRI’s to study the brain of 63 servicemen exposed to blasts. These scans showed signs of brain injuries that will have an impact on the victim’s physical and emotional health.

These brain injuries are yet to be understood in-depth.
