Scientists Claim to have developed a new technique for creating Stem Cells without destroying the embryos
Scientists in the US have claimed today that they have developed a new way to create embryonic stem cells without destroying embryos.
The scientists had also expressed their opinion that they hope that this development could create the way for the approval of stem cell research as the key issue of ethics could now be removed.Publishing the findings in today’s online issue of Nature, Dr. Robert Lanza, the vice president of U.S. biotech group Advanced Cell Technology said, “There is no rational reason left to oppose this research.”
The research team have also mentioned that they were able to produce stem cell cultures by gathering individual cells from newly fertilized embryos without harming it. They explained that this method would be performed on two-days old embryos, after the fertilized egg has undergone the process called blastomeres, or when the egg has divided into eight cells.
