New Wheelchair to Help Disabled Stand Up Vertically

Researchers at National Cheng Kung University in Taiwan have created a new wheelchair that could help the disabled stand up in a vertical position so that they can grasp hard to reach objects. Known as i-Transport, the wheel chair allows the user to move around as in conventional wheel chairs but when required, it can lift them to an almost upright position with the user able to lean on padded harness in strategic positions.

The chair also comes with an embedded health monitoring system which can track the user’s blood pressure and breathing.
