Most of us avoid using the public toilets due to its pathetic state even when it is an emergency. Here's some good news for us! Using a recently launched mobile app, citizens can locate the nearest electronic toilets (e-toilets). These toilets are not just clean but also designed to use very little water and are environment friendly.
‘eToilet is India's First Electronic Public Toilet that is portable, hygienically maintained, and eco-friendly as it is designed in a manner to use very little water.’
The civic body, in association with Eram Scientific Solutions, a Kerala- based innovator, has installed 80 e-toilets in the city, all of which have been mapped under the new app. The e-Toilet mobile app can be freely downloaded from the Google Play Store. Apart from location to the nearest e-toilet, it also has details on how to use them.
It will generate usage data, information on health status and water condition for monitoring authorities. Users can also suggest new places for more e-toilets.
During the launch, Mayor BN Manjunath Reddy said, "We realized that e-toilets have helped us to a great extent under the sanitation programme. We will now take measures to get people to use them. That is why we have come up with this app. The idea is to make e-toilets more effective, convenient for public and help keep the city clean." "The corporation plans to install 100 additional e-toilets in the coming months," he added.
G Kumar Naik, BBMP commissioner, "The mobile app will help users locate the nearest e-toilet via map and address listing, explain the operations, provide information about napkin vending machines, share user feedback and suggest places for more such toilets. The monitoring app for the corporation officials will collect usage statistics, health status, water condition, facilities available and generate reports on usage. This will help authorities address relevant issues and resolve them at the earliest."
