Cash could be a very powerful incentive to help reduce weight, the founder of a controversial weight loss program said. Winton Rossiter, who runs the Weight Wins program, has claimed that handing out cash for those who lose weight is more effective than traditional dieting, adding that the NHS should expand the program across the country after it conducting a trial run.
Sponsored by the NHS Eastern and Coastal Kent, the program inducted 402 people in its trial run and Rossiter said that those who completed the program lost more than 12 percent of their total body weight compared to those who were not given any money.
“We are absolutely thrilled with these results, which suggest that long-term financial incentives could be the best single weapon in the war on obesity”, he said.
